Position Papers

In order to further clarify the doctrinal position of Magic Valley Bible Church, as well as to address certain social issues, the pastors and elders have written several detailed position papers concerning various biblical doctrines and responses to social issues. Below is an overview and a link to each position paper.

Doctrine

BAPTISM

Baptism is the outward representation of new spiritual life in a believer. As such, believer's baptism holds that only those who have repented of their sins and put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ should be baptized.

THE LORD'S SUPPER

The Lord's Supper is the remembrance of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. It should be done corporately by the church, and does not physically contain the body and blood of Christ.

ORIGINAL SIN

All mankind is tainted by sin due to the sin of Adam, who is the representative head of humanity. As a result of his sin, all of mankind is fallen.

THE MILLENIUM

When Christ physically returns to the earth after the rapture, He will establish His reign upon the earth for a thousand years.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

The Spiritual gifts in the early church consisted of miraculous gifts and ministering gifts. The miraculous gifts were foundational at the beginning of the church, but have since ceased with the close of the canon of Scripture.

PARTICULAR REDEMPTION

Christ's atoning work on the cross was done to save sinners from eternal death. Christ's death is only for those who have been sovereignly chosen before the foundation of the world.

Social Issues

MEN'S & WOMEN'S ROLES

Men and women have unique and distinct roles within both the home and the church. They are equal in their standing before God, but distinct in roles toward God and each other.

HOMOSEXUALITY

Homosexuality, or same-sex attraction, is a sin in the eyes of God and is unnatural according to God's sovereign purpose for men and women.

COVID & THE LOCAL CHURCH

In the midst of a digital world, the local church remains critical for the Christian life, and it is important for the Christian to be in physical attendance in the local church.
